How to care for your Think Timber benchtop

Think Benchtops

Your Think Timber™ benchtop is built for everyday living. Crafted from solid hardwood and finished for durability, it’s designed to handle the demands of busy kitchens while showcasing the natural character of timber. Like any work surface, however, proper care will help protect its appearance and extend its life.

With the right routine and a few simple precautions, you can enjoy your benchtop looking beautiful for many years to come.

Daily cleaning couldn’t be easier. Simply wipe your benchtop with a damp cloth using clean water or a mild, diluted detergent when needed. This will remove everyday dust, food residue, and surface marks without affecting the finish.

Most spills can be wiped away easily, especially when cleaned promptly. Ordinary food and drink residues usually come off with soap and water. If a mark remains:

  1. Mix warm water with a drop of dishwashing liquid.
  2. Soak a cloth in the solution, wring it out well, and wipe the area.

Extreme heat can damage timber finishes, so always protect your benchtop from hot cookware and appliances.

  1. Use heat pads or trivets under hot pots, pans, and appliances.
  2. Ensure pots are correctly sized and placed centrally on burners.
  3. Remember that wok burners are designed for woks — using flat-bottom pans can cause excess heat build-up.
  4. Avoid using multiple burners for large cookware, as this concentrates heat and may damage the benchtop surface.

Taking these small precautions can significantly extend the life of your finish.

With gentle cleaning, quick attention to spills, protection from heat, and simple maintenance over time, your Think Timber™ benchtop will continue to deliver both beauty and performance for years. Timber is made to be lived with — cared for properly, it only gets better with age.
